My name is Josephine and I started this website in 2013. I am still working on it and probably will be for most of the rest of my life! I am not particularly tech savvy but I have a brain and I am not dead yet, so I can learn. My son is my tech guru, at least when he is not perfecting his own website, inventing, playing the piano, writing, coding, working or going to school. My daughter, when I can pull her away from her book, sewing, crafts, schoolwork, or favourite TV series, is no mean slouch when it comes to technical matters either, but then they are both products of their age. Honestly I am more than grateful for their aptitude!

I have been homeschooling both my kids through all of their school years. It has been a challenge and a joy. I can highly recommend it as a lifestyle , though I came to it by necessity rather than by choice..

I attended the University of British Columbia for 6 years and studied Biology, Psychology, and English and ended up with a Master of Library Science degree, with a concentration in Children and Young Adult Services. In retrospect, I realize it was my way of staying close to information, which in those days could best be found in books.

Apart from my work with Children and Young adults at the library, my husband and I were Youth Group leaders at our church for many years, until we had children of our own. I also worked for the Ministry of Human Resources for several summers during my university years as a Youth at Risk Summer Placement Officer.  I worked with children and teens in risky situations and found them jobs, camps, and other opportunities during the summer months. This job instilled in me a great respect for the human spirit, and an appreciation for the difficulties with which some young people must learn to cope.

Currently, I exist in the wings of my children’s schooling. I quilt, sew, garden, crochet, write, walk my dog, and care for those I love. I also take photos with a very fancy camera that I am still trying to decipher which was gifted to me by my Mom and my husband on my 50th birthday. Like my brain, I only make use of a fraction of its capability, but nevertheless every photo on this site has been taken by me.
